Tournament This Weekend

December 5, 2004

Fencers take note: SMFC will host a tournament on Saturday, December 11, 2004. Registration for ages 16 and under begins at 9 am, fencing at 9:30 am. Don't miss the action, especially as this may be your only chance to compete before the Saratoga tournament in January.

Club Reopens September 1

After the short summer break SMFC reopens tomorrow, September 1 at 4:30 PM.

SMFC Tournament May 29

SMFC will host a Youth Epee Tournament on May 29. To the fencer with the best touch ratio (gives / receives) goes the top prize - a Japanese Samurai sword! Plan to attend this exciting event.

Saratoga Tournament Results

USFA Northeast RYC Tournament in Saratoga February 7 & 8

January 15, 2004

Sabre Outreach Network's Dom Szabli hosts a USFA Northeast Regional Youth Circuit #2 tournament in Saratoga February 7 & 8 2004 for Youth 10, 12 and 14 age categories plus a sabre team special event. Note that participating in RYC events qualifies you for NAC and National events. Cost is $15 registration fee plus $15 per event entered. You must enter by January 30, 2004 or pay late fees, which means you should mail the completed entry form by January 28 at the very latest if you intend to participate and don't want to get stuck with the late fees. SMFC December Tournament Results

SMFC hosted a USFA tournament December 20, 2003. Ioan and Alex qualified for the Junior Olympics in Cleveland, OH on Feb 14-15. Here are the complete results:

Carousel Mall Tournament Canceled

January 6, 2004

Stefan just found out this week that those in charge at Carousel Mall will no longer allow SMFC to have their January tournament there, even after they had previously committed to it. So due to the Carousel Mall staff not keeping their promise the January tournament at Carousel Mall is now canceled. SMFC will host the next tournament in February.

A fencing tournament and the Junior Olympics Fencing Qualifiers will be held at SMFC on December 20, 2003 at 9AM. Come, have fun, and test your fencing skills!

Upcoming Tournament at Carousel Mall

SMFC will host a special tournament in January 2004 at the Carousel Mall. Please ask Stefan or Lubo for details.

USFA Fall Tournament Results

SMFC hosted a USFA tournament September 20, 2003. Over 20 fencers attended.

Ages 12 and under: first place Daniel, second place Struan, third place Noah, fourth place Rachel.

Ages 13 to 16: first place Will, second place Ioan, third place Miki, fourth place Jason.

Men's Open Epee: first place Lubo, second place Matt, third place Richard Hoops, fourth place Eric Hoops.

Next tournament is planned for the beginning of December at Carousel Mall.

Coach Lubo Attends Nationals

The 2003 National Fencing Championship was held on June 31 in Austin, Texas. Lubo finished 23 place in the Men's Epee Division 1A, the highest division in the nation. Congratulations Lubo!

Syracuse Musketeers Summer Tournament Results

SMFC hosted a tournament June 14, 2003. About 20 fencers attended.
